Pre-Weld and Post-Weld Heating:
When welding certain materials, pre-heating and post-heating are recommended and sometimes necessary to help eliminate common problems that arise including:
hydrogen cracking, excessive hardening in the weld zone (high carbon steel alloys), and shrinkage stresses during cooling.
Eldec Induction's heating systems are used effectively in this process to assure consistently solid, quality welds where the welded substrate material’s composition, thickness, and configuration often yield poor quality welds when utilizing conventional welding methods.
Small induction heating units, such as the Eldec HFG 10 igbt, work well for pre-heating for welding and brazing. The photo on the left shows the repair brazing of turbine blades. The coaxial transformer can be set in any position in the protective welding chamber due to its flexibility. This enables the operator to work in the welding chamber with differently shaped components. In addition, by using an optical pyrometer, the output of the generator can be regulated, and the set nominal temperature cannot be exceeded, preventing the possibility of overheating.

Type Eldec HFG 10 igbt
The Eldec HFG 10 igbt with 10 kW permanent output is a good choice for pre-heating components for welding tasks.
For bigger components, such as casting molds in glass industry, higher outputs are required. Here the Eldec MFG 70 with 70 kW of permanent output or higher is proven and efficient.
